Vintage Suzani

Spectacularly beautiful suzani from Nurata, Uzbekistan. The cloth backing is cotton while the hand stitched thread is in silk. Suzani's are traditionally created by a mother and her daughter for the daughter's dowry. This suzani is exquisitely crafted using red, sienna, blue, teal and yellow thread, that still shimmer in the light. Would make a wonderful bedspread or wall hanging.
