Antique Weller Pottery Vase

Decorative burntwood vase by Weller Pottery, circa 1910.  Middle Eastern scenic series ... Winged lions and scollwork excised in the surface meant to resemble the mottled coloration of burnt wood.  Good condition, no cracks or chips.   The Winged Lion is a creature with origins in Mesopotamian mythology, legend and folklore, as well as Christianity (the symbol for St. Mark) and Heraldry.
