"I didn't discover curves ... I only uncovered them." Mae West
About 10 years ago, I was seated at a dinner party next to a very lively gentlemen who amused everyone throughout the evening with his non-stop stories. A few days later I found out that “Vladdie” - as everyone at the party called him was the esteemed Vladimir Kagan, Interior Design Hall of Fame-er and much admired mid-century furniture designer.
He and his wife Erica Wilson had long been Nantucket summer residents; so, while I had always admired his Serpentine sofa, I now also felt a kinship as a fellow New Yorker who had similarly chosen the Grey Lady over the Hampton Crawl.
In much of the USA, Holly Hunt represents Vladimir Kagan designs - of which there are many. These photos are curtesy of Hollyhunt.com.
In a world of straight up-and-down, the “Kagan curves” are refreshing and sexy! To use an over-used word, they are also “iconic” mid-century collectibles.
